Can I replace 5W-30 with 15W-40?

  1. The W in oil does not stand for winter.
    Winter is variable, winter in Alaska is different to winter in Florida. Yet the same oil is sold in both places.
    The W is for Water.
    As in, the viscosity of water.
    So the oil changes from 15 times the viscosity of water to 40 times the viscosity of water. In 15W40.
    In my training and understanding of oils anyway 😁
